One of the first maps published by "Anavasi" is being reissued with many additions. In the three years that have passed since the first edition, many changes have been made. The layout and marking of the E4 have been improved. The hiking trail 22 has been cleared and marked (for both of these trails, "Anavasi" has constructed signs with maps that have already been placed on the mountain).
The new map depicts many more old paths and includes Kirfi, which is crossed by trail 22 heading towards Helicon. The "Topo" series represents the latest step in the long evolution of mapping efforts by "Anavasi". The "Topo" series includes maps at scales of 1:100,000, 1:50,000, 1:25,000, and 1:10,000.
The maps are created using the Greek Geodetic Reference System (EGSA 87), the national geodetic system implemented to meet the needs of large land registration and mapping programs in the country. Considering that the map is a tool from which the user's safety sometimes depends, "Anavasi" strives to provide the best and most accurate cartographic material.
Thus, all work (construction of backgrounds, collection and representation of field data, final cartographic composition) is done with defined and strict quality and fidelity specifications that ensure the maximum possible accuracy for the specific scales.
In the "Topo" series of "Anavasi," two coordinate systems appear: - The grid square every 1 km in the Greek Geodetic Reference System. It is a full rectangular grid (orange lines). The projected coordinates of EGSA are expressed in meters. - The crosses of geographic coordinates every 1 minute in WGS84. These are the intersection points of meridians-parallels of the global geodetic reference system that have been projected onto the map.
If you use the map in combination with a GPS, you can locate your position based on the coordinates provided by the GPS without changing any of its settings.
