1947. With the end of World War II, Greece is engulfed in the chaos of the Civil War. The then sixteen-year-old Chronis Missios is arrested, tortured, and sentenced to death for his participation in the Democratic Army. He is released with the amnesty of 1973, after spending 21 years in prisons and exiles.
This period of his life is narrated by Missios in "...well, you died early," a book that has been read from its publication in 1985 until today. Captivated by the vividness of the writing, as well as by the power of the events and the characters, Myrto Rice, Sylvain Ricard, and Daniel Casanave decided to venture into adapting the book into an illustrated narrative.
"I didn't manage to change the system, but I won't allow it to change me either," said Chronis Missios. What do we call an "act of resistance" today? What meaning can one give to the word "commitment"? What weapons does one have to oppose a system?
