60 years have passed since the beginning of the Cypriot Unification Struggle for the liberation from British rule.
At a time when Anti-colonial liberation Revolutions were forgotten, E.O.K.A. inspired many Liberation Movements, even Fidel Castro himself, as he confesses in two letters to the Leader of E.O.K.A. (1959) and later at the funeral to his wife, Kiki (1974):
“General, your Struggle captivated me and served as an example for the Liberation of my Homeland. Congratulations. I wish that Democracy and Justice may finally prevail in the world” (1959).
“I applied the guerrilla tactics that General Grivas had used in the EOKA struggle during the liberation struggle of my country” (1974).
