Each exercise corresponds to the respective step in the Student's Book. Grammar, vocabulary, and expressive means are reinforced through a variety of exercises, while there are sections where the student independently discovers grammar rules, comparative explanations of vocabulary, and practices written expression. The instructions accompanying the exercises are bilingual, so students can understand the requirements of the homework exercises without assistance. At the end of each chapter, the Exercise Book offers vocabulary practice and a page with grammar revision, while every three chapters there are preparation exercises for the Zertifikat B1 exam (Goethe-Institut and ÖSD). At the end, there are worksheets for the oral expression exercises in pairs from the Student's Book, as well as lists of irregular verbs and verbs with prepositional objects.

Integrated into the Exercise Book is also a CD containing the listening texts for the preparation of the Zertifikat B1 exam.
