Revealing testimonies from the key players of the great crisis. After the death of Hugo Chávez, Venezuela began to plunge into a deep political, economic, and social crisis. During the anti-government protests of 2017, in which the opposition often escalated tensions, more than one hundred and fifty people were killed, mainly by military and paramilitary forces.
Journalist Jason Pipinis traveled to Venezuela twice, where he met with President Nicolás Maduro as well as opposition leaders, while documenting the severe shortages of food and medicines. In addition, he spoke with several so-called political prisoners.
He also traveled to Colombia, Panama, Spain, and France, where he met with exiled opposition figures, former government officials, and people who claim to have suffered medieval torture in Venezuela. The testimonies of the key players and the unknown documents included in the book shed light on the dark background of the great crisis in Venezuela.
