The lord Xiang used power instead of justice, violence instead of virtue. He strengthened the penal code, terror and torture became regular practices.
The residents of the kingdom of Qin hated him so much and his unjust laws that they considered him their personal enemy. On the day the duke protector died, the whole country rose up to execute him. He found nowhere to take refuge and, raising his eyes to the sky, he sighed and said: Alas! Who would have expected that a public man would fall to such a state!
He died dismembered, his family was wiped out, and the whole world cheered. And we can't even say that he was killed. He himself constructed the instruments of his own death.
