The book "The Murderers of Memory" by the great historian Pierre Vidal-Naquet is the most comprehensive response to Holocaust deniers. It consists of five essays that help the reader understand how such a deviation, like the denial of the Hitlerian genocide, came to light and gained publicity, despite the flimsy "arguments" of the deniers.

Vidal-Naquet states from the beginning that he does not "dialogue" with the enemy: he dismantles the mechanisms of their lies, believing that this can, methodologically, be useful for future generations. Holocaust deniers have not been silenced, and many media outlets continue to host their views, while Nazi parties have a disturbing presence in Europe.
