The title of this book was adopted because in Chapter 10, which is an important chapter and covers a large part of the book, the macroseismic effects of all known strong earthquakes (M > 6.0) in Greece from the 6th century BC are described. An additional reason for the choice of the title "The Earthquakes of Greece" is the historical information that a book with a similar title, written by Dimitrios Kalatianos in the 3rd century BC, was lost.
The book consists of ten chapters. In the nine chapters, there is an effort to present a concise overview of modern scientific knowledge in the main subject areas of Seismology related to Greece, while the tenth chapter describes the macroseismic effects of strong earthquakes in our country.
