Euripides' "Cyclops" is the only complete satyr play that has survived. Satyr plays drew their material, like tragedies, from the realm of mythology, but they often parodied characters and situations, while the presence of a Chorus of Satyrs guaranteed the creation of a cheerful and festive atmosphere.
In this particular work, Euripides dramatizes the events of Book 9 of the Odyssey, where Odysseus is trapped in the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus.
