Dear Kitty
It is indeed surprising that I have not renounced all my ideals. I insist because, against all odds, I still believe that people are good at heart… I see the world gradually becoming a wasteland, I feel the suffering of millions of people, and yet, if I look up at the skies, I believe this brutality will come to an end.

On the day she turns thirteen, Anne Frank receives a diary as a gift. She decides to confide all her secrets to it and to achieve this, she creates an imaginary friend, Kitty, the loyal companion she longs for but will never have. Ultimately, Kitty becomes a witness to the forced maturation of a girl who is already far too mature for her age, living in a time when all ideals are collapsing, people show their worst selves, and they do not know whether to believe in truth, justice, and God.

In 1942, Anne and her family are forced to hide, pursued by the Nazis, in an old building in Amsterdam. They remain there for two years until they are captured by the Gestapo on August 4, 1944. Only her father survived, thanks to whom the diary was published. A shocking written document that has been adapted into film, theater, and translated into many languages.

This diary of a child, this deeply personal revelation in the voice of a child, embodies the horror of fascism more than any element from Nuremberg.
