The writing of this work became necessary due to the rapid scientific and legislative development of private international law, as well as the swift changes in relationships resulting from, among other things, the phenomenon of globalization.

This work presents modern holistic private international law as a paramount branch of global governance of private international relations. It aims to provide the Greek legal science with a contemporary text, so that the knowledge and participation of Greek science in the international research landscape can be harmonized.

The first volume of general rules (General Part) focuses on the principles and methods of private international law, as well as the fundamental distinction between the creation and recognition of legal relationships and statuses. It includes an extensive analysis of the methodology of substantive private international law, the conflict rule, and the rules of immediate application.

The book is divided into three main Parts: following the Introduction is Part A, concerning the conflict of laws in the field of substantive law; Part B, which covers general rules of procedural international law; and finally, Part C, which focuses on the general rules for the recognition of decisions and private legal relationships.

This work aims to serve the field of science it studies and to meet the modern educational requirements of Greek universities, proposing solutions to assist the case law of the courts.
