Description

“Having in mind not only the student of history but also the general history enthusiast who would like to draw historical material from primary sources, from the echoes of the events themselves, I have categorized the texts into three main parts: firstly, concerning the social organization of the Modern Greeks; secondly, regarding their economic and intellectual rise; and thirdly, on their military forces and military operations, which are further divided into smaller sections, as can be seen in the table of contents.

I believe that the reader who will go through the texts will follow the painful journey of the Nation throughout its entirety, will be moved by its suffering, will listen to its laments, will feel its yearning for freedom and justice, its thirst for knowledge and for the improvement of its living conditions, will delve into many tragic yet instructive details, and will continuously reflect on the countless and still indeterminate consequences of slavery.

The spontaneous and unedited material of primary sources, which breathes the historical moment, will transport them into the atmosphere and spirit of the era, will spark their thoughts, will challenge them, will ignite their imagination, in short, it will make them intensely live through the events.”
