Normal knee-high stockings are intended for preventive use before and after surgery, as well as for bedridden or postoperative patients and patients for whom the corresponding medication is contraindicated. They are also worn while sleeping. The graduated compression is 18 mmHg, distributed as 100% of the intended pressure at the ankle, 70% at the calf and 40% at the thigh.

The stockings are intended to help prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, not to treat medical conditions.
