In a dark and strange time, when giants walked the earth and dragons flew in the skies, there lived Giles, a simple farmer who never had a taste for heroics but for good food and beer.

Thus, the unfortunate farmer becomes a hero, and when he accidentally falls into possession of the magical sword, Kindslayer, everyone believes he is capable of facing a terrible danger, the dragon Goldkeeper, who burns and devastates the land.

At the end of this adventure, an immense treasure of the dragon and the royal throne, or death, await Giles.

A wonderful novella by the great J.R.R. Tolkien, written with skill and humor, featuring an anti-hero reminiscent of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings.
