The book "Greek Immigrants in Argentina (1900-1970). Processes of Formation and Transformations of a Migrant Community" aims to shed light on various aspects of the life and actions of Greek immigrants in Argentina, which welcomed millions of European migrants of various national origins from the last decades of the 19th century.
The work traces the gradual formation of the Greek community in Argentina, its transformation, and the gradual creation of collective identities as a result of the different relationships, tensions, and balances that developed within it, as well as its relationship with both the local national life of Argentina and that of the country of origin.
The first part attempts to provide an overall picture of Greek migration to Argentina, presenting, on one hand, the general framework in which it occurred, and on the other hand, the specific characteristics of the Greek migrant body.
The second part essentially consists of four monographs, which study four different professional groups of Greek migrants, who, with a focus on work, shaped different settlement models in various regions of the host country.
The third and final part of the work centers around the space of the Greek community associations in Buenos Aires, where the majority of Greek immigrants in Argentina settled.
