Reviews by our members

  • It has a very light citrus scent.
Indeed, the hair does not frizz like before.
You will wash your hair twice in every shower.
    Massage the scalp thoroughly.
Combine it with a conditioner that also avoids the excessive ingredients like those found in commercial products.

I have been using it for three weeks and I am very satisfied. The first two times I used it, I felt that my hair was frizzing more, but it seems that it needed time to adjust to the new product. Now my hair is very soft (for the first time in my life), it combs easily, and has minimal frizz on humid days, while before it frizzed quite a bit. I should note that I have low porosity hair, and it is quite oily, so I need to wash it every other day. Until now, I was afraid to try a moisturizing shampoo because I was worried it would make my hair even oilier, but I was wrong; on the contrary, it was exactly what I needed.

It has become my favorite shampoo. Until now, I used the Cream Cleansing Shampoo from CANTU as my first choice and the Apivita - Chamomile & Honey as my second choice for everyday use. Both shampoos are good, without sulfates, silicones, drying alcohols, and proteins that dry out my dry ends. The reason I used both together was because I found the Cantu for €4.50, it made my hair nice but it made my scalp itchy if I used it alone since I have oily roots. So, for my second choice, I used the Apivita which cleansed well without drying out my hair, but it was twice the price. The result was amazing and truly transformative for my previously awful (to put it mildly) hair. It went from excessively frizzy, dry, and dull to bouncy, soft, shiny, silky, and without frizz when I was indoors. However, I didn't completely get rid of frizz to a satisfactory degree when I went outside.

And here comes the Sukin that I exclusively used for the last 5-6 washes. During washing, it gave me the impression that it was drying out my hair, but the result was very nice. It seemed like things were even better with frizz, but I passed it off as something random until I went out in the rain the other day and when I came back, my hair was neither frizzy nor looked wet/greasy as it usually does every time I go outside in high humidity. I like to try new products, always based on their ingredients, and this one had equally good ingredients as the other two shampoos I mentioned earlier, with glycerin even lower on the list and panthenol, which acts like a protein for the hair, being nonexistent. Today I noticed that the shampoo's description also mentions frizz. It leaves wonderful hair without volume, moisturizes without weighing it down or making it look "poorer". It's a wonderful shampoo!

I should note that I consistently use the Coconut Water Leave-in Treatment from Camille Rose after washing (both before starting to use this shampoo and after). It doesn't contain the ingredients I mentioned earlier, nor does it contain humectants like glycerin, which are among the most common. Humectants and proteins are not harmful ingredients like sulfates, silicones, and drying alcohols such as alcohol denat. But they are aimed at specific hair types. Proteins are good for damaged hair and for those who want to add volume to their hair, as long as it's not dry, frizzy, or curly.

Humectants work like hyaluronic acid on the face. Ideally, they absorb moisture from the environment and bring it to your face/hair... if the moisture on your face is more than that of the environment, then humectants draw moisture from your hair to "give" it to the environment. The result is dehydration and dryness of your skin/hair. On rainy days or days with high humidity, they absorb so much that the hair becomes frizzy and looks weighed down. They are "two-faced" ingredients and I would recommend that those who have problems with dryness, frizz, and volume stay away from them. Silicone and oils are supposed to "lock in" the humectants. Oils haven't worked for me as a shield for humectants (neither on my hair nor on my face). Silicone is destructive because it doesn't allow the hair to breathe, it only goes away with special shampoos like the KeraCare Deep Cleansing (the KeraCare 1st lather is affordable and very gentle on the hair but harsh on residue) or harsh shampoos from the supermarket that also damage the hair, creating a vicious cycle. The residues of silicone create a film around the hair follicles that doesn't allow the hair to breathe, meaning it can't clean properly or absorb moisturizing ingredients from conditioners and hair masks. Gradually, this leads to dryness, dullness, and breakage of the hair. Because silicones are cheap and found in many products, many people say it has an undeserved bad reputation and is safe. The Morrocanoil hair oil is a great example of how we are fooled. It consists of silicones and a little oil, like many "hair oils." With €3, you can find a silicone gel, and with €7-8, you can find pure oil in a much larger quantity.

Finally, I want to mention those who have oily hair from the roots to the ends. They are the ones whose hair may appear great using harsh shampoos from the supermarket. But know that gradually, it will lead to hair loss and possibly frizz. The oiliness will never improve. Proteins, without the harmful ingredients I mentioned earlier (sulfates, silicones, drying alcohols), will help with volume and oiliness. Since I started using moisturizing shampoos, not only have my ends, which had suffered greatly, improved, but also my roots, which now can go easily for four days without appearing oily and flat, whereas before, even on the second day, the roots would already look greasy and weighed down. Oiliness, especially when the lengths and ends are dry, is a reaction of the scalp to products that dry it out. Due to excessive dryness/dehydration, the skin produces more sebum to combat the excessive dryness. The roots are closer to the scalp, which is why they become oily before the sebum is produced. The real solution is to find a moisturizing shampoo that doesn't cause irritation. The one from Sukin is such a shampoo for me.

It's a long message, but I write all this to help others who are unaware, informing them and saving them from unnecessary waste of money, just like I did until I turned 28. It was a Fructis conditioner that gave me the revelation, as it had dried out and made my hair even more voluminous than all the shampoos I had used over the years. So much so that I checked the ingredients and realized that my hair didn't need them, which is very logical since it's virgin hair. I had accepted that my hair was just terrible, but we need to open our eyes and learn what we're using and putting on our bodies. That's why I try to explain in order to help others. I remember reading comments a decade ago about plant-based shampoos that still had terrible ingredients and were very expensive. It was very difficult to find them back then, but with complaints and comments, more and more started to emerge. Now we have enough options, but I would like us to be like England, for example, where you can find such shampoos and good products even in supermarkets.
