Description & Specifications

KOSTAS MOUSOURIS was preparing a publication that he did not manage to complete for the fortieth anniversary of his theater, as well as for his journey from 1918 in the theater. Having texts, reviews, photographs, performance programs, etc., that were gathered for this publication, I consider it a duty in his memory, even with such a long delay (twenty-five years since his death), to present them in this volume.

Kostas Mousouris had managed to thank the prominent intellectuals and artists who willingly responded to his request to refer to his theatrical journey, and whose texts adorn this volume. The text that Mousouris was writing is missing. He did not manage to complete it. I know that it would not have been descriptive of events and personalities.

His intention was to express, through his work and his time, his views on theatrical language, acting, direction, theatrical education, criticism, theater as a business, and the stance that the State should have towards free theater. This text cannot be replaced.

However, some published texts of Kostas Mousouris have been selected that refer to themes that would have been included in his own text. As for my text, which was surrounded with such affection by Anna Stamatopoulou and Theodoros Stefanopoulos, it should be considered as a "journey" concerning Mousouris, which includes references and opinions of his, as they come from conversations I had with him.

I want to believe that they have been rendered as faithfully as possible regarding their essence. I sign the title of the book with a sense of responsibility, as I experienced his passion for theater very closely for many years.
