The veteran archaeologist Apostolos Ziras retreats to his ancestral home in southern Pelion, where he spent his summers during the 1950s. He is a lonely man, a widower, pursued by the judicial authorities and television channels.
In the place of his teenage vacations, he attempts to reconstruct the reasons that made him a scapegoat. To do this, he excavates the ruins of his life, simultaneously bringing to light the ruins of recent modern Greek history.
He "rediscovers" his love for Mrs. Makri and her daughter, remembers his cosmopolitan uncle from Alexandria, as well as a life filled with betrayals, escapes, upheavals, repressions, and reversals.
Through his return to the past and his ancestral lands, the hero will ultimately experience human adventure towards final redemption; and Ithaca, more than just a home, will prove to be the launching pad for a new journey.
