"Forensic Medicine, from Theory to Practice" has reached its 3rd updated edition, enriched with additional material concerning the subject of addictive substances in Greece and Europe.
Beyond the very good theoretical training that this book offers, it primarily contributes on a practical level. Numerous practical data and cases from the author's many years of experience assist in the transition from the theory to the practice of forensic science, as only through practice can theory function effectively.
In the new content, it was deemed appropriate to add the transfer of knowledge such as, for example, aspiration pneumonia, postoperative pneumonia, hypostatic pneumonia, and emboli in the lungs, although they are mentioned in pathology and general pathological anatomy.
Additionally, elements that are the subject of research (and disagreements) in courtrooms have been added. The chapter on Toxicology, at the end of the book, fully and comprehensively covers the toxic effects of poisons on the human body, but also includes a special reference to addictive substances, which are pharmaceutical substances that cause addiction and substance abuse after repeated use. Furthermore, the edition includes a reference to firearms (ballistics), curated by Georgios Raftogiannis, a judicial expert and ballistic forensic analyst.
The book is a valuable tool in the hands of students, resident physicians, as well as lawyers, judges, and citizen protection officials.
