These notes were written with the aim of serving as an aid in the study of the Statics of Statics structures. The study focuses on the following three points:
a) Diagrams of intensive quantities: Their construction is done in the simplest and most practical way. Everything known from the Introduction to Statics applies here. Additionally, there are practical rules. Great importance is given to the speed of constructing the diagrams [N], [Q], [M] as well as to checking the correctness of the results.
b) Influence lines: The concept of the influence line is introduced along with the methods for constructing the influence lines of support reactions as well as intensive quantities at a specified location of the structure. Furthermore, the chapter on influence lines presents the uses of influence lines.
c) Calculations of deformation quantities: In this chapter, using the principle of virtual work, we calculate displacements, rotations, changes in distances, and relative rotations at intermediate joints due to loads, displacements of supports, and temperature changes. We suggest that the reader repeat the diagrams of intensive quantities and the frameworks from our book ‘Introduction to Statics’.
