Description & Specifications

The subject of the theoretical comparative analysis developed in this study is the unified school of developed industrial countries and Greece, the school that, while aiming to expose all students to common educational experiences and to extend school integration as social integration, has proven a difficult endeavor, a myth.

The focus of the analysis is primarily on the circumstances of both the promotion and the hindrance of the effort to create the unified school. It examines and interprets the educational changes concerning the establishment of the unified school in relation to the social conditions as they have developed in each country, through the contrasts between various social categories.

The perception that permeates the entire study is that despite the fact that the school has acted as a factor of social mobility, it is wrong to believe that it is capable of canceling social inequalities. The inability to implement a common program of educational experiences in practice is attributed not only to the internal functioning of the unified school but also to the different privileges arising from the levels and directions of education, which ultimately stem from the social division of labor, which also creates the gap between manual and intellectual labor.
