Learning difficulties characterize a significant percentage of students. Today, schools are called upon to manage students with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as foreign and refugee students.
Timely and accurate identification of learning difficulties for proper framing of students is imperative. Utilizing modern teaching models and approaches along with the simultaneous use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a learning tool, the development of students' social-emotional and metacognitive self-control and self-regulation skills, as well as redefining the role of those involved in the learning process, which requires enhancement through training, changes in Curricula, and changes in structures and services provided for Counseling, Diagnosis, and Support, are deemed necessary to eliminate learning barriers for students.
Organizational and functional differentiation in teaching, as well as Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), are cornerstones for Inclusive Education that aims for the Social, Functional, and Cognitive Literacy of individuals, with the ultimate goal of harmonious coexistence in a supportive/inclusive society without exclusions and marginalizations.
