Wallace's report is an example of political analysis and although sometimes contradictory, this is due to the dialectical method he follows to the extreme, possibly as a result of his deepening in ancient Greek philosophy, as well as his effort to shed light on all aspects of the Greek military and political labyrinth of the time. A blend of sentimentality and political cynicism, his text is also prophetic. Perhaps he is the first foreigner (preceded by the Greek communist leadership) who predicts the final confrontation between the British and the EAM-ELAS. And although he himself invokes his "flexible political conscience", he does not hesitate to call the British policy of continuous support for the EAM-ELAS, under communist control, "treacherous", with the prospect of its future, through military means, extermination when it attempts to seize power. Wallace "refuses to believe" this "treacherous" policy, but he denounces it. And the cyclone remains motionless.
