Description & Specifications

The 34 surviving Speeches of Lysias are a feast for the eyes, the mind, and the soul. They are, so far, a well-hidden treasure, like many others of the ancient Greek spirit, which every society today in its multicultural and globalized manifestation absolutely needs in its bioethics.

Undoubtedly, Lysias is the greatest forensic speaker and the universal orator of the ages, as is effortlessly derived from his multifaceted thematic and multitalented literary work. Certainly, Demosthenes and Isocrates do not fall short. However, circumstances greatly favor Lysias; he experienced the Peloponnesian War and two almost consecutive dictatorships in Athens and felt the harshness of the tyrants firsthand with the murder of his brother Polemarchus by the tyrant Eratosthenes himself. Thus, his Speeches are charged with great passion, naturally and justifiably.
