In a rapidly transforming Europe, Greece is now at the heart of the European Union. Joining the Eurozone creates a new environment for development and progress. It represents a vindication of the people's efforts and opens new horizons in the country's historical trajectory. Through the Eurozone, Greece promotes its vital interests.
During the period of 1996-2000, a new chapter was not only opened for the development and economic strengthening of the country. There was also a significant effort towards social justice. The economic policy systematically aims at a fairer redistribution of income and wealth, while also seeking to utilize the comparative advantages of all regions of the country through decentralized development.
The struggle for the progress of the economy must continue and intensify. Resting on the positive economic results of recent years would be a poor advisor. Vigilance is required for Greece to move towards real economic and social convergence. In this way, it will continuously enhance its presence and standing in the international community.
