The Crimes against Life (Articles 299-307 of the Penal Code) currently in their second edition, thoroughly address not only issues of interpretation of the relevant provisions of the Penal Code but also a range of topics of broader interest.
Specifically, the First Part of the Book analyzes the following topics: A) The relationship between the legal good of life and the fetus. B) When human life begins to exist. C) The concept of death in criminal law. D) The issue of euthanasia. E) The problem of self-determination of the legal good of life.
The Second Part of the Book initially analyzes crimes against life, specifically the crime of intentional homicide, homicide with consent, participation in suicide, negligent homicide, and infanticide. Within this framework, various issues of everyday practice are examined, such as the responsibility of doctors during surgical procedures, responsibility during driving, responsibility from the transmission of AIDS, issues of correlation with bodily injuries, etc. A separate chapter analyzes crimes of risking life, where specific problems of exposure and omission of rescue from danger to life are examined.


The Third Part of the Book is dedicated to the criminal treatment of pregnancy termination. It initially examines the nature of the fetus as a protected legal good and then defines the holder of this good and the time of its criminal protection's start and end. A standalone chapter analyzes the crime of pregnancy termination when performed by a third party with or without the consent of the pregnant woman, as well as when carried out by the pregnant woman herself. At the same time, the reasons justifying the act are examined, especially when performed during the first trimester of pregnancy or when medical, ethical, or eugenic indications are met. The last chapter analyzes the crime of advertising methods of artificial pregnancy termination.
