This study concerns the transitional period from the Late Frankish Rule to the Early Ottoman Rule (15th century) in Eastern Sterea Greece, using the region of Boeotia as a case study.

The historical focus centers on the establishment of the new power (the Ottoman) in this area and captures its image (geographical, political-administrative, demographic, economic, and cultural) as it emerges from indisputable sources.

Here you will encounter a specific settlement network (villages with names), a specific multi-national and multi-cultural society, specific names of common people, demographics in numbers, its products and obligations to the power in quantities, the city and countryside market, the movement of goods, a tangible world and a truth supported by evidence.

The author of this study, knowing much more than anyone else about its weaknesses, boasts only about the minimum: Finally, a small morsel of documented knowledge is produced for a part of our historical past, for which until now only generalities, ambiguities, and inaccuracies had been expressed.
