“For the Defense of Society.” This is the title used by Foucault for his series of lectures at the College de France during the period of 1975-1976.
In these lectures, which are so essential both in terms of the breadth of historical research and the analytical depth with which the theme is developed, Foucault places the entire problem in relation to the exploration and/or management of the historical sphere and the social processes that are formed within its territory.
A constant basis of Foucault's analyses is the investigation of the crucial problem of knowledge and power. [Excerpt from the text on the back cover of the edition]
