This volume brings together testimonies regarding the custom of ecclesiastical customary auctions. It is a tradition from the period of Ottoman rule, which in some cases survives to this day, and according to which rights and items are auctioned with the aim of strengthening the ecclesiastical fund, from which a significant part of each community's activities was realized.
The economic, customary, and social parameters of the custom are examined here, as well as its place in the customary traditional life of our people. The auctioned items and rights, their economic substance, and the liturgical moments of the custom's observance are also discussed, as well as its historical trajectory up to the present day.
