However, this cat was not ordinary. It was a cat that knew how to speak the language of humans.

Review this product
  • A cat different from all the others, who speaks the human language, decides to make his master rich and happy. Equipped with a pair of boots and a sack, he runs into the forest, following the plan he has in mind...
The classic fairy tale of Puss in Boots, known to all of us, which I used to read so many times with my little boys when they were younger, in a more modern and contemporary version for older children (from six years old).
Although I have seen many illustrations of this particular fairy tale, this one is simply amazing! And that is the most important element that won me over in the book...
Usually, I choose children's books for my little ones with bright colors and clear sketches. Here you see mustard, gold, brown, gray everywhere, and some details in petrol! But as soon as I flipped through its pages, I was enchanted by the wonderful and original sketches. They transport you to another era and you simply cannot close your eyes. You want to turn the page and discover the next surprise!
The most impressive is the central spread, where the giant takes the form of a fearsome lion. The fold-out pages open, and so the readers suddenly see in place of the lion a small defenseless mouse!
Also wonderful is the cover with a beautiful cat, elegantly dressed, admiring his impressive bright red boots. Here too there is absolute color harmony, with the title in a wonderful calligraphic font and intense petrol color.
The sketches are what initially drew me in... So, I gave this fairy tale a second chance... Through the figure of the cat, children learn that intelligence, cunning, courage, audacity, and resourcefulness are also important assets on the road to success.
Also, that we must always show faith and trust in those who love us, since they "work" for our benefit. Exactly as the cat did for his master.
Another important point is that we must face our fears, which here was the huge lion. Only then do we eliminate them (the lion became a mouse) and continue our lives.
The truth is that the story of Puss in Boots was not one of my favorites when I was little. But now as an adult, I saw this fairy tale with different eyes and discovered many hidden meanings...
