This edition was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Ari Georgiou. America-Russia: Draw" organized by the Cultural Foundation of the National Bank at the Cultural Center of Thessaloniki of MIET (February 7 to April 7, 2019), within the framework of the donation of Ari Georgiou's archive to ELIAMEET.

"America of 1978" was perhaps the most fundamental section of Ari Georgiou's photographic work. A product of his first major trip to this country, it served as the material for his first solo exhibition entitled "Photographs from America."

The moment to become the subject of a monograph came in 2018, a full 40 years after that first trip to the mythical land of his adolescence, when it was decided by the Cultural Foundation of the National Bank to be a "twin" publishing gesture simultaneously with the parallel publication for Russia of 1998.
