Description & Specifications

With a glass of beer, someone opens the head of a young football team supporter in a restaurant in Stockholm. The young man dies. Essentially, this is an incident of the usual raw everyday life in the city center.

The investigation is undertaken by a pair of beleaguered detectives, Paul Gelm and Sersin Holm, who come from Team Alpha. And something happens. Behind the broken beer glass, a different sequence of events begins to emerge, leading in many directions: to the police force, where a senior officer behaves strangely; to the future, where a threat of a terrorist act suddenly appears; to the past, where the deeper layers of hell start to become discernible.

A THRILLING ADVENTURE OF THE LEGENDARY TEAM ALPHA

THEY WROTE ABOUT THE BOOK: Dal abolishes every known cliché with prose so vivid that readers of detective fiction have never read before. Die Zeit

If you are looking for a book with a well-crafted plot, smooth writing laced with elements of social satire, and last but not least, a book without dull moments – where even the police interrogations are interesting – I don't think you'll easily find better than this. DBC

Read an excerpt

Paul Gelm disappeared too. Within the vague world of daydreams. Per Karlsson. Born in Danderyd twenty years ago. From Danderyd, but he never even made it to high school. Unemployed, but he frequented the most famous restaurant in the Center, that is, southern Stockholm, and read Latin classics. What could have happened to him? He couldn't imagine anything at the moment. An intruder at school? Had his father thrown him out of the business? Suppressed to the extreme, but ready to rebel? Rebellion against his father? Generally unruly? Former drug addict? Fool? No. Maybe the others applied, but not the last one. He was not a fool. Gelm was able to discern this clearly, even if he felt somewhat… yes, like a fool. Reduced to the desperate insignificance of restaurant quarrels.
