Description & Specifications

A Greek gangster on a covert mission in Stockholm finds himself partially devoured by charming yet deadly wolverines in the zoo. What exactly happened to the victim? And how did he end up there? Eight women from Eastern Europe will disappear from a migrant center outside the city. Who were they? An elderly gentleman will be found hanging upside down from a tree in the Jewish cemetery. Inside his wrist, a concentration camp number is engraved.

The setting takes the form of a historical nightmare. The different cases gradually connect, and the Alpha team will be called to operate in various locations across Europe while also uncovering unpleasant truths about Sweden's past...

A GRIPPING ADVENTURE OF THE LEGENDARY ALPHA TEAM

WRITTEN ABOUT THE BOOK: The pace is fast, the ending well-crafted yet unsettling. A well-written, almost addictive book. Skanska Dagbladet. Arne Dahl has succeeded once again. He wrote a masterful detective story that keeps the reader's interest from the first page to the last. Impressive! Laholms Tidning

Read an excerpt

It was a night in early May. There was complete stillness in the air. Not a hint of wind was blowing over the waters of Saltchuen. The narrow flag of the castle over Kastelholmen hung completely limp from its pole. The jagged facades of Huespbron resembled a distant scene. Not a flicker was seen in the flags along Standsgården, nor a single treetop was moving above Fielgatan street; the vegetation on Musembake was not even trembling. And the only thing that made the dark waters in the Strait of Beckholm different from a mirror were some moving, iridescent flashes from the residual fuel of the ships. For a moment, the reflection of the young man was surrounded by an almost perfect, concentric, iridescent circle, like in a telescopic sight, but then the circle dissolved and slid lazily toward the Beckholm bridge, taking on other, steadily changing shapes. The young man shook off the fleeting disturbance that had pierced him and snorted the first line.
