The global economic crisis and the provocatively unfair distribution of wealth have brought to light the real crisis, which is political.

Democracies around the world have come under scrutiny by experts, which are said to be malfunctioning and increasingly evolving into pure authoritarian regimes. "Are democracies dying?" or "How do democracies die?" are titles of serious publications.

This situation has reignited citizens' interest around the globe in ancient Athenian democracy, and more and more publications today refer to it, but without proposing functional solutions for today, resulting in this form of direct democracy being dismissed not only by its enemies but also by well-meaning prominent figures as a utopia for current conditions.

The second edition of the book "Searching for a Model of Democracy for Today" is enriched with specific yet significant conclusions as well as a prescription for the treatment of "modern" democracies that suffer from a lack of democracy and due to this lack, as is generally acknowledged by experts, are slowly dying and ultimately evolving into regular authoritarian systems of governance without the "democratic" masks they wear today.

For this reason, the book is also given a new title: "A Cure for Dying Democracies". The Cure for Dying Democracies bypasses the operational difficulties of ancient Athenian democracy and for the first time on a global level provides a documented functional solution for a truly democratic regime.
