Joseph raised his hand in a greeting. He said very softly: "I'm glad you've come, my lord. I hadn't realized until now how much loneliness I had without you." The tree swayed gently.
"It's good land, as you see," Joseph continued softly. "You will like to stay, my lord." He shook his head from side to side to shake off what remained of the stupor, and laughed at himself, both out of shame for the good thoughts and wondering at the sudden feeling of kinship with the tree, "I suppose my loneliness did this..."
