Description

The book examines the characteristics of the Far Right in Greece and decodes its ideology and organizational profile in the political scene from the mid-1960s to the time of the economic crisis and the bailout agreements.

The author attempts to trace whether the post-junta electoral weakness of the Far Right reflected a broader political deficiencies, as well as whether there are elements of continuity of the Greek Far Right from the period before the abolition of democracy in 1967 up to today.

The post-junta Far Right, despite internal conflicts, splits, and its position on the political margins, had internal dynamics. The far-right space was electorally weak; however, it was closer to achieving its consolidation in the central political scene than had been estimated.

The book contributes to the understanding of the characteristics of the Greek Far Right and provides interpretations for the rise of an extremist formation with neo-Nazi characteristics, Golden Dawn.
