This study unfolds some of the stories of individuals who were treated by the psychoanalyst-author, all of which provide a picture of mental complexity and how unconscious processes largely determine - often unknowingly - our lives. At the end, issues that require delicate handling and an understanding of their difficulty are discussed, such as mothers' negative feelings toward their children and suicidality.
