Description

Description

This War Of Mine: The Board Game is the tabletop adaptation of the award-winning video game that depicts the drama of civilians trapped in a war-torn city.

You will enter this experience as a group of citizens trapped in a besieged and conflict-ridden city, enduring many hardships that will often test the essence of humanity.

During the day, you will take refuge in a ruined shelter, which you will care for and manage: clearing rubble, searching various rooms (often behind barricaded doors), building beds, makeshift workshops, stoves, tools, water filters, small animal traps, cultivating an improvised vegetable garden, repairing vegetable facilities, reinforcing the security of your shelter, and when winter comes, trying to keep it warm.

During the night, your main tasks will be guarding your shelter and the small possessions you can protect from looters and raiders. Those from your group who are suitable for such a task will use the cover of night to carefully explore dozens of constantly changing locations scattered throughout the dangerous city, searching for all the things a person needs to survive (materials, food, equipment, etc.). Along the way, you will encounter dozens of characters, each with a unique story (residents of the locations you visit, thieves, looters, soldiers, war victims, refugees, neighbors, traders, and members of local communities), and each encounter will be a unique adventure. To guide you through all these events, you will have the special SCRIPTS mechanism, responsible for implementing the deep and complex story and its plot coherence (each game will be unique and different from the previous one).

Your goal is to SURVIVE until the cessation of hostilities. During your struggle as survivors, you will encounter dramas connected with making extremely difficult decisions and choices (you will have to face the consequences of your actions sooner or later in the playthrough). Survival itself will often prove insufficient. The price that each of you will decide to pay may be very high in the end. The goal is truly to survive in a way that will leave you able to live with the decisions you made. The EPILOGUES mechanism will be applied afterwards.

This War Of Mine: The Board Game will be an experience for many players (up to 6) as well as a solo variant.

You will be able to personalize one of the well-known characters from the electronic version of the game and face hundreds of new challenges and difficult choices.

The board game significantly expands the universe of the original game and emphasizes the depth of the plot, but its main focus will be on the human interactions guided by survival instinct and collective decision-making.

It aims to surpass the usual limit of the board game - This War Of Mine: The Board Game is an INSTANT PLAY game, without the need to read the manual before starting the adventure.

Experience the simulation of a struggle for survival as a team of citizens facing a blind and relentless war.

In war, not everyone is a soldier.

One of the rare cases where the board game is better than the video game.

Others have already accurately explained what the goal is and roughly how this particular game is played, so I won't tire you with that.

I will say that here we have an absolute 10/10 in its genre, a game where every playthrough is unique.

It puts you right in the role and requires thought and communication if you play with two or more players.

I recommend that while playing, you have the namesake playlist on Spotify, “This War of Mine,” as background music, which adds an incredible layer to the experience

This is a thematic game that combines strategy, cards, dice battles, and luck. Your goal is to try to keep some citizens alive who are trapped in a city during a harsh civil war. Your base is a ruined house. One round is equivalent to one day and is divided into various phases in which you must do specific things. In the morning, you need to reinforce your shelter, at noon, you need to eat, in the afternoon, you need to go out into the city for supplies, and at night, you need to face invasions in the shelter. During these phases, you use cards and many good but mainly bad things can happen. Also, many times, depending on the cards that come up, you will need to refer to a scenario book.

    The construction quality is excellent.
The rules are understandable, although it is not the easiest game for someone to learn. When you play it twice, you have learned it, but still, in some phases, you may need to refer to the rules.
The difficulty level is very high, resulting in it being almost impossible to keep the people alive until the end. You can do everything right and open a card and disaster strikes, but that's war.
The duration is enormous. You can finish one day in an hour of gameplay, maybe even more. For this reason, the game itself provides you with special sheets where you can save, like in a video game.
The scenarios that can arise are many, so it is difficult to encounter the same situation while playing.
Attention: the game is not enjoyable.
I recommend it because it is very unique and extremely realistic. It can be played by one person.

It is one of the most atmospheric games I have played.
Its theme is not easy and definitely not for everyone, the goal is survival and you will have to make difficult moral decisions that force you to really think about what a person is capable of doing to survive.
The game can end in 15 minutes - you can lose before even realizing what happened - or in 5 hours.
It is a board game, although based on a video game, it can offer you a better experience than a video game.
    Forever in the collection.

It is simply unique in its kind. Very good game. It literally puts you in the atmosphere of its scenario, which concerns the survival of civilians in a city under siege and enemy bombardments during a war.
You can start playing without reading the rules as it has a system that guides you, while there are also references to the rules during the game where necessary.
There is also a companion app for mobile or tablet that helps players during the game's progression. However, the app is not necessary to play.
A session with this game lasts a little longer than usual, but this is by no means negative because the scenario is very powerful. It can be played with one to six players. I usually play with two people and the average time it takes us for a session is about an hour and a half to two hours.
If you like cooperative games, it is a representative example of these games.

It can be played by 1-6 players and has 3 basic scenarios with 1900 variations, which branch out depending on the choices you make, creating an incredible variety that gives the game different situations every time, making it impossible for the player to encounter the same scenario again. The instructions are in English, but I believe they are simple and understandable. The scenarios and their variations are also in English. It also includes 2 instant play scenarios for playing without opening the rulebook. It is a thematic game that creates atmosphere and rewards you by revealing how things are not so easy in difficult survival conditions, and how even the smallest detail has its consequences...

P.S. Do not consider the "long" completion time as a negative evaluation of the game, as shown below.
