Minor cuts or scratches

The best way to stop bleeding is to apply pressure with a clean towel or gauze to the wound for five to ten minutes without interruption. Once the bleeding stops, carefully wash the wound with soap and water. This way, you reduce the risk of infection and remove black specks of dirt that may be trapped in the skin.

Stitches

A wound requires stitches when:

  • The wound is very open and continues to bleed despite applying pressure for more than 5 minutes.
  • The wound is sufficiently deep.
  • There are foreign objects in the wound that may cause infection.
  • Blood is spurting out forcefully. In this case, a vein may be injured, and immediate stitches are needed to properly nourish and stop the bleeding.
  • The injury is to the face or neck.

When stitches should be done

In most cases, they should be done within 24 hours. Some wounds need to be closed sooner; however, it is safe to wait at least 8 hours before closing the wound. If you decide to wait, you should wash the wound under running water and remove any possible impurities. Do not let the wound dry out. Moisten a gauze and place it over the wound, changing it every two hours to keep it moist.

  • It was used for newborn cleaning. They are softer compared to conventional cotton ones. Their price is reasonable.

  • (+) Very good gauzes at an excellent price! The size suited us better than the 5X5.
(-) Nothing negative was found unless someone is bothered by the fact that there are 2 gauzes in each package. Personally, it didn't bother us as a family at all.

  • Excellent for its price (less than 3 €). It comes in 50 packs of double non-woven sterilized gauze pads (no fraying or difficulty in removing them from the wound or anything..). I took one out to show you approximately how it looks.

  • Very high-quality sterile gauzes, among the few that remain soft for any type of wound and at the same time gentle compared to the others that are somewhat rougher in terms of softness and flexibility. Fully absorbent. They are a category before the dressings, such good gauzes I personally was very satisfied because I have tried quite a few. I would recommend you to try them.
