I have a cheap turntable. Before the upgrade, I had an AT3600L cartridge/needle. After the encouragement of friends, I made the change by purchasing the AT-VM95E.
It doesn't make sense for me to insist on technical specifications and curves since they are easy to find. Nor to praise Audio Technica for how big of a company it is and for its history in the field. I will simply tell you about my experience with the change.
The sound didn't just upgrade, instruments that didn't exist before (!) started to be heard and stand out from the ensemble. The bass gained volume and depth, the highs became sharper but still delicate, and the mids were upgraded. The sound became sweeter and warmer. The listening experience was significantly upgraded. For the €59 it cost me, the choice was more than "value for money". It justified both my friends' recommendations and my expectations. It certainly doesn't work miracles, but it's worth it. I would recommend it with closed eyes, especially for low or mid-range turntables. In a higher category, I imagine the demands would be greater!

For years I had an ORTOFON cartridge on my turntable. I must say, in general, I had no complaints. After servicing my turntable at a well-known service center in Athens, they recommended that I listen to an ATVM95E cartridge for the type of music I listen to (classical, jazz, pop, etc.). The difference between the two was simply otherworldly, literally. The sound opened up, the stereo image and depth of the soundstage changed significantly. I finally managed to hear things that I didn't even know existed in my records, especially the bodies of the instruments, especially in the low frequencies where the body and volume of the acoustic guitars or the double bass suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

The cymbals? There, if the sound was magical, literally....sweet and crisp as they say abroad, without losing any transparency in the midrange!

Absolutely flawless! My turntable is a Thorens TD 166, my amplifier is a brand new Yamaha AS701, and my speakers are Quadral Argentum 590 White. I'm already thinking about getting a Shibata in the future.

I started using the VM95E as a user in my home and system, and I consider it an excellent product and the definition of Value for Money in its category. I highly recommend it. My experience in the field is 40 years as the owner of East Electronics service, and we have already installed at least 300 units in customers' systems, and they all remained completely satisfied.

The cartridge/needle itself is produced by a giant in the industry who has been in the sound industry for many years, and it is not at all random that the well-known "green" has sold over 1,000,000 cartridges in its first year of release. The reasons for this are analyzed in detail below.

COMPATIBILITY
Compatibility is a very important thing that listeners often overlook in their choice... The output of all VM95E cartridges is 47KΩ/100pf. This makes it compatible with 95% of amplifiers and preamplifiers on the market. Unfortunately, installing a cartridge with an output of 47KΩ/330 or 560pf creates distortions and emphasizes the high midrange, which can be annoying. Tonal balance is the number one requirement along with the best sound quality.

COMPLIANCE
The physical weight of the VM95E cartridge makes it compatible with almost all tonearms available on the market.

UPGRADE
Starting from the simplest model at 40 euros, the listener can find replacement needles in a price range from 28 euros to 200 euros, all compatible with the same cartridge. This allows the listener to have more than one needle for different uses or to upgrade their basic needle to something better. The range includes spherical, elliptical, microline technology, and reaches the top model of Shibata cut.

SOUND QUALITY
The result of the "green" is warm and pleasant to listen to, with excellent highs and very good tonal balance, with a full and tight bass. The highs will surprise the listener, especially for their distinctiveness. This means that in some way, the "green" manages to separate the cymbals, making them stand out from the rest. Strangely, for technical reasons that I cannot explain, compared to other cartridges on the market, the "green" reads less surface noise, rings, and scratches on records, which is very useful for those who have old records. I would assume this has to do with the cutting technology.

All of this happens at a cost of 60 euros, which means that the closest needle from other companies that can produce the same result is priced at 140 euros, which means that the "green" is a category of its own, and however you look at it, in the 60 euro category, there is absolutely nothing to compare with them.
