This book is a reissue, with many corrections, of the so-called "Great" or "State" Modern Greek Grammar (OESV edition, 1941), which was compiled by a committee chaired by Manolis Triantafyllides, with members K. Karthaio (Cleaner of Lakonas), Thrasivoulos Stavrou, Achellas Tzartzano, Vasilios Favis, and Nikolaos Andriotis.

It is the most comprehensive and authoritative grammar of the demotic language to date, a significant milestone in the study of the Modern Greek language and the history of Modern Greek education and active demoticism.

During the reprinting, the general format of the book remained the same, while an appendix notes the minimal differences and deviations from the new grammar of the OEDB that is taught in schools and generally applies to public services.
