Description

With the completion of 20 years since the start of the NATO bombings against Yugoslavia (March 24, 1999), "Imedrodamos" proceeds with the reissue of the documentary book "Balkans - 78 Days 'Target' of NATO" by Nikos Mpoiyopoulos.

Twenty years ago, when the NATO invasion of Yugoslavia began, the invaders posed as protectors of the rights of the Albanian minority in Kosovo and of democracy. Is there anyone who still claims that these were truly the motivations of the invaders?

The events that unfolded and are evolving in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and throughout the Middle East, the impending Kosovo-Serbia agreement with land swaps and thus redrawing of borders, the corresponding "settlement" in Bosnia, the agreement between North Macedonia and Greece, and the general upheavals in the wider region all indicate that the "story" still has many episodes to unfold.

The book "Balkans - 78 Days 'Target' of NATO" - written in the midst of war by a then-young reporter - chronicles the events of the time step by step. It covers the actions of the USA and the EU, the tactics of Greek political parties, the role of domestic and international media, and Greece's involvement as a NATO member in a atrocities that marked the Balkan Peninsula and constituted the "prologue" to the "new NATO doctrine" that is unfolding today throughout the world.

Twenty years later, the pages of the book that describe the events and analyze the causes of that NATO crime read like "prophecy." Nikos Mpoiyopoulos's book, a historical document and tool for political analysis, helps us not only remember what happened back then but also to piece together the political and geostrategic puzzle of today.
