The eleven-year-old Anne Shirley has never known a true home. Since her parents died when she was three months old, she has lived in foster families and orphanages. So when she was sent to stay with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert at Green Gables Farm on Prince Edward Island, she believed she had finally found a home. Green Gables is the most beautiful place she has ever seen, and above all, this time she would be adopted. But the last thing the Cuthberts expected was a lively, red-haired, talkative little girl with a big imagination and a willful spirit, and so Anne is not at all sure they want to keep her. All she has ever wanted was to belong somewhere, and she dreams of being called Anne Gables. Will her dreams come true?
