Description

Get the most iconic sound in guitar history with the Boss DS-1 Distortion. Since 1978, the DS-1 has remained the benchmark for hard sound, offering aggressive distortion with mild sustain that does not alter the character of your instrument. Ideal for all music genres, from rock to heavy metal, it also works perfectly as a booster.

A Living Legend Since 1978

The Boss DS-1 is not just an effect pedal; it is a piece of music history. Since its release in 1978, it has defined the sound of countless guitar heroes. It is the first distortion pedal made by Boss and remains unsurpassed thanks to its unique character: it delivers an aggressive sound with clarity, preserving pick attack even at the highest gain settings. It is the timeless choice for those seeking the classic, authentic rock sound.

Ultimate Response and Dynamic Control

One of the most important features of the DS-1 is its excellent response to playing dynamics. Unlike other pedals that "suffocate" the sound, the DS-1 does not alter the character of your guitar. If you lower the volume control on your electric guitar, the sound naturally "cleans up," allowing you to go from crunch to full distortion without touching the pedal. This flexibility makes it ideal for live performances where tone control is crucial.

Multitool: From Distortion to Boost

The versatility of the DS-1 goes beyond classic distortion. Many professionals use it as a Booster in front of an already “dirty” tube amplifier to add sustain and harmonics to their solos. The three simple yet effective controls (Tone, Level, Dist) allow you to quickly find the sound that matches your style, whether it’s smooth overdrive or aggressive fuzz-like distortion.

Durability and Build Quality Boss

Like all Boss pedals, the DS-1 is built to withstand the toughest conditions of use. Its sturdy metal casing protects the electronic circuits from impacts and moisture. With extremely low power consumption (only 10 mA), it can operate for hours on a 9V battery, while it also accepts a standard power supply. Its reliability is sealed by the top-tier 5-year BOSS warranty, offering you complete peace of mind.

Technical Specifications & Portability

With compact dimensions (73 x 129 x 59 mm) and a weight of just 360g, the DS-1 takes up minimal space on your pedalboard. It features buffer bypass that maintains signal quality even with long cables. The input and output are positioned on the sides for easy connectivity. Whether you are a beginner looking for your first pedal or a professional seeking the standard studio sound, the DS-1 is the most value-for-money investment you can make.

Nice pedal but it doesn't have the authentic 80s sound. If you compare it to older pedals, there are differences... why? Because the circuit board is different, it's not the same as the old pedal. Also, if you're interested in making modifications inside, like a mod from Keeley, it's not possible because everything is SMD chips. It's better to buy an old pedal for a more authentic sound and it can be modified for more tonal options.

Exactly what you expect from such a famous pedal. Especially on dirty channels, the sound becomes very metal.

I have had it for a month, I have used it a few times but the quality of the Distortion is perfect. Very good construction and with sufficient adjustments

I have it for 3 years already. Fragile pedal. Very good and clean sound. I recommend it for hard rock, grunge or alternative. With a good amplifier and appropriate settings, it can also handle some thrash metal. It works well with both clean and dirty amplifiers. Just be careful with the tone not to go higher than the middle, as the sound becomes too sharp with a lot of highs and mids.

It is quite good, but if you raise the tone above half, it has a serious problem. Also, it is not very user-friendly for many music genres. Only rock, alternative, grunge, etc.

It is a must-have pedal. It is the first pedal I have purchased and I have to say the best. It captures both heavy and more relaxed tones. Search on the internet for more settings because the ones it has (it has a paper inside) may not sound pleasing to you.
