The mobile technologies have experienced rapid growth in recent years thanks to advancements in the field of wireless and mobile communications as well as mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.). Mobile devices are increasingly used to access the internet, incorporating a variety of sensors (e.g., GPS receiver, electronic compass, accelerometer, etc.), while providing advanced computing, imaging, and communication capabilities.

This trend creates fertile ground for the development of advanced mobile applications that leverage the capabilities of mobile devices and highlights an emerging field of business activity and commercial prospects.

This book aims to capture the technological landscape in the field of mobile technologies, focusing on design and implementation technologies for contemporary mobile devices. The book covers a wide range of topics related to mobile applications:

(a) Design principles and technologies for developing mobile websites,
(b) Development of native applications for mobile devices, using the Android operating system as the development platform (the programming environment used is Android Studio),
