The Hitachi-LG Data Storage GH24NSD5 internal drive writes CDs and DVDs and is designed for desktop use. It supports write speeds of up to 48x for CD-R and 24x for DVD±R, while DVD-ROM read speeds reach up to 16x.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Users generally report that the drive works reliably and offers good value for money. It reads and writes CDs and DVDs, and supports basic uses such as converting CDs to MP3s. However, several users note that it makes noticeable noise while spinning or burning discs.
During detection, at the startup of the computer, it makes a bit more noise than my old one (which wasn't anything "branded"). I don't have an opinion yet about the recording. The number of stars to give puzzled me because expectations should be proportional to the price, brand/model, etc. In other words, you would judge a branded product differently from a non-branded one. Here, I was confused because the description said Hitachi-LG, but I received one of the noname products that appear in the listing photos. If I had known I was ordering a noname, I might have given it 4 stars 'for noname'. However, considering that I thought I was ordering a branded Hitachi/LG, I give it 3 stars because it makes more noise than my old noname.
The only problem is that when it starts spinning, it doesn't stop regardless of whether the DVD is being read or not. I have Windows 10 operating system
Everything is fine. I could give it 4 stars because of the moderate noise (during recording at least), but due to the low price, it would be too strict.
You ruined my brand. It didn't even last 6 months and it broke. It's an old IDE ROM and it's of better quality and quieter than this specific model. I'm leaving the review because I found the same model in a foreign computer with the exact same problem! Something tells me it's not just a one-time malfunction... Edit: WARNING! The model is the SAME as the LG equivalent for €15
For its price, it's perfectly fine. At low recording speed, it doesn't sound particularly good. I haven't tried it at high speed.
The noise it makes during recording is like an old washing machine, but otherwise it is excellent for its price.
It simply works. At €10, if you still use CDs, it's great. It makes a little noise when writing, but what else can you expect.
It does the job. It reaches the speeds it claims. Overall, no issues. Of course, it makes some noise when it reaches top speed :)
It does its job perfectly fine, I didn't expect anything more or less. As for the noise, the power supply covers it all, so I can't have an opinion...
