The design of the Radial StageBug SB-4 starts with a 1/4" input for the instrument's pickups. Unlike conventional DI boxes that feature a 1 meg-ohm impedance, the SB-4 boasts a high 5 meg-ohm impedance that smooths out the peaks from piezos. The higher impedance also broadens the frequency response for a more natural and pleasing sound.
The active circuit performs the high-to-low impedance conversion and balances the signal, allowing it to be sent over long distances of more than 100 meters without loss, offering impressive linearity and low distortion across the entire audio spectrum.
To eliminate on-stage feedback, the SB-4 is equipped with a 180° phase-reverse high-pass filter. The high-pass filter removes excessive low-end, which in turn reduces the resonance that can cause vibrations at the instrument's peak. The 180° phase reversal helps diminish hot spots on stage by altering the phase relationship between the PA system and the acoustics of the room, where peaks can occur at certain frequencies.
Included connections feature AUX outputs for the amplifier and a standard XLR output for the PA.
