Despite their beneficial properties, their use requires prudence and caution as they are highly concentrated, volatile, and very penetrating substances that can become harmful if used freely.
Essential oils should not be used without the advice of a professional aromatherapist, pharmacist, or doctor. Especially in the following cases:
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding
- In individuals suffering from serious health problems
- In infants and children under 12 years old
- In case of allergy to essential oils
Caution in use
- Avoid ingestion and contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse with plenty of water and contact your doctor.
- Do not use them undiluted on the skin. We recommend diluting them in a base (e.g., base oil) when in contact with the skin.
- Before first use, apply a small amount to a spot on your skin to check for a possible allergic reaction.
- Avoid sun exposure, there is a risk of photosensitivity, especially with citrus essential oils such as bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, orange.
- Keep them away from flame sources as they are flammable.
- In elderly individuals, it is advisable to use smaller amounts.
