Battery Life

Battery life shows how many days the smartwatch can operate without charging.

It depends on the battery capacity, but also on how much you use it (e.g. active display, GPS, notifications, etc.).

For example, a smartwatch with 2-3 days of battery life is ideal for daily use with all features enabled.

Models with 5–10 days or more are suitable for those who do not want to charge often or use it more "lightly".

The value is especially meaningful when comparing products from the same manufacturer.
Display Type

MIP

MIP screens consume minimal energy and remain visible in bright sunlight, making them ideal for smartwatches focused on battery life and outdoor sports activities.

Within a few months, the GPS stopped working; it can't locate a satellite. And if I leave it searching for a satellite, it simply shuts off (even though the battery hasn't run out). I won't buy Garmin again—stay away...

The watch was purchased on 14.09.2019, about 26 months ago. For a beginner - amateur athlete, I think it will meet his needs. Its drawback is the battery, which needs to be charged about every 4 days if you are slightly active and use GPS and notifications. Its screen is not particularly resistant to minor impacts and scratches, and of course, if you have a slight vision problem while running, it is a bit difficult to read your exercise data.

The worst of all is the build quality, specifically the way the strap attaches to the watch case. Specifically, the case has 2 slots to screw the strap, which break after a while, rendering the watch USELESS!!!!

There is no possibility of repair, only complete replacement. This problem occurred to me 2 months after the warranty expired. The response from the authorized service was: replacement with a refurbished one for about €128 with a 6-month warranty, while a new one can be found for slightly less money, around €117 to €120 with a 2-year warranty. The photos I have uploaded highlight the problem and confirm what I am saying. https://photos.app.goo.gl/t4DFg5SW1QYjDXsW6

This problem is of course known to Garmin for this specific watch and I think it is one of its main disadvantages. Unfortunately, whoever buys it must know that they are buying a watch with an expiration date of up to 2 years. A simple internet search with the title: garmin forerunner 45 broken band mount will convince you that it is one of the most common problems with this watch.

I am truly sorry for the failure of this particular model and the company's handling of such a well-known problem.

My next purchase will definitely be a product from another company.

I have completed 1 month of use and I can say that the watch has exceeded my expectations. It is exactly what I was looking for, a smart, simple-to-use training watch for running.

Training:
1) It has incredible accuracy in location and heart rate.
2) All the information you need is available during your run, and you can receive any notifications you want (pace per km, heart rate, distance, laps, etc.)
3) Without stressing the buttons on the watch, you can create the workout you want in the mobile app and with one tap, send it to the watch.
4) You can create programs with any combinations you desire (without restrictions).
5) It automatically syncs activities with your phone, and if you have connected third-party apps (e.g., Strava), they also upload automatically.

Smart features and overall:
1) It communicates all mobile notifications on the watch screen and accepts apps. You can also download the watch face you like from the Garmin store.
2) The battery lasts >4 times longer than the Samsung watch I had, meaning >4 days with 2 runs and constantly connected to the phone via Bluetooth.

For me, as an amateur runner, it satisfies me 100%.

Update: almost 1 year later, with a lot of training, 1 marathon, and other races, I continue to be satisfied with this watch. I don't understand what they say about the screen. Of course, it doesn't have the screen of a smartwatch, but it's not like you can't see anything.

Update 2: 4 years later. I still haven't regretted the purchase. However, the battery is now terrible. If the watch is not fully charged, it shuts down unexpectedly during training. It can't handle a second workout on one charge. And finally, the points where the strap screws in on one side have broken, resulting in it no longer being usable... RIP.
In no case is it worth buying today because it has become very expensive. Spend a little more for something better or switch to Suunto or Polar.

Even if it had all the capabilities that can exist in a smart fitness watch with this screen, it is truly a useless gift. Literally, you can't distinguish anything, if you are in a slightly dark place it's absolute nothingness. It's a waste of 170 euros. Don't pay attention to videos, it's not what it seems, if I saw such a screen somewhere I would say it costs 15 euros.

Purchase before 2 years.
Over time, it gradually started having difficulty finding GPS signal, until now it takes 5 to 10 minutes for it. Now the watch is unusable, as you either have to wait all this time or start training without measurement (if you start, it may find GPS after 30-40 minutes)

Very good watch for a complete beginner runner or someone who just wants to track their athletic activity. I had it for 18 months and it covered the basics (running, cycling) well. It has a good GPS and excellent connection with the HR zone. The battery is a big downside. An active runner or cyclist would need to charge it every 3-4 days.

I have it for about 2 weeks. It replaced the forerunner 10. It had everything I needed (vibration notifications, wrist heart rate monitor, GPS+GLONASS+GALILEO). So far, it finds signal in less than 10 seconds. When fully charged, its battery lasts at least 1 hour of running from 100% to 80%.
I've had it for a short time and I can't have an opinion on its durability yet.

I have it here for 2 years and I don't find a reason to change it with a newer one. It's worth its money and more. It takes accurate measurements and I consider that to be the most important. In the specifications, it doesn't say that it's waterproof, but you can wash it normally with water. I wouldn't advise you to put it in the sea because I can't tell you if it's waterproof and the saltwater.

I have the watch for a week, no problem, it does what it promises, it just takes a little time to get used to it in order to handle it correctly. Nothing special though. The app is very good for basic measurements and recordings. Overall, I think it's very honest for its price and for someone who starts some kind of exercise, whether it's running, cycling, etc. It seems like a reliable tool, which is perhaps the most important thing. And the recordings work fine without a mobile phone, and the synchronization with the phone as well. Battery lasts 4-5 days with approximately 2-3 hours of GPS...

18/7/20: 4 months later, very satisfied, no damage since with a little water and occasionally some dish soap, it becomes like new. Reliability is great, the only thing is that because I wanted a little better accuracy in heart rate, I also got the chest strap to make sure there is immediacy in the measurement and greater accuracy so that I can have peace of mind, as many times I approach the maximum heart rate for my age! This with the chest strap is something that a beginner like me may need the most. The rest have a bunch of statistics that who can evaluate them if they don't get seriously involved!

After a while, having a huawei color band2 which was perfect for its price, I thought of going for something more in terms of both price and brand. I chose the garmin and I was disappointed. The software is a joke, reminiscent of free apps on Google Play. Good capabilities through the phone and the app, but only when there is a Bluetooth connection. Of course, the measurements and so on that come to the phone don't have any difference compared to a 30 euro smartband, so I don't know why these phones reach 200+ euros... Because of the "chip"? The design? The brand name? For me, it's a waste of money to go for such numbers, when neither the software nor the image is worth it. Speaking of the image, the live image of the photos has nothing to do with reality. If you buy Windows, you will spend 60-70 euros. I really would like to know the reason why these "watches" cost so much.
