New Frontiers, a standalone game in the Race For The Galaxy family, has players building galactic empires by choosing, each in their turn, an action that everyone can perform, with the player who chose it gaining the benefit of it.
The developments to be used are decided during setup, allowing players to make strategic plans based on them. Eight developments are always in play.
The game continues until one or more of the four game-ending conditions are met. After all actions of that round, the player with the most points from colonies, developments, bonuses, and VPs from resource consumption is the winner.
